BAGGAGE COLLECTION | LOUIS VUITTON TRUNK C.1909

Louis Vuitton courier trunk manufactured in 1909, covered in orange Vuittonite canvas with natural leather borders and solid brass hardware—the most luxurious finish offered by the Maison at the time. It features four Louis Vuitton–stamped locks, original castors, intact leather strap loops, and painted “J.B.” initials, along with early 20th-century French railway labels that trace its travels to destinations such as Le Mans and Monte-Carlo.

The interior is lined in beige cotton canvas with a padded lid and retains its original removable tray, leather strap, and Louis Vuitton key engraved “Clé malle Vuitton pour l’argenterie,” suggesting later use for transporting silverware. In very good condition with well-preserved leather and a clean interior, this trunk is a rare and desirable example, especially notable for still having its original key, strap, and tray.
